Life is a challenging adventure. It has been since the beginning of time. What unites us all as human beings is our common struggle against fear, despair, and the trials that test our faith.
"Letting Go" tells the story of men and women, like us, who struggled to believe when confronted by doubt. Opposition by political authorities and from their own hearts seemed to bring them to the edge of disaster.
"Where do you go when it all falls apart?" What do you do when it seems like all hope has failed? The only thing to do is to hold on....
Authors Matt Martelli and Josh Guenther discuss notes after a Tech Week rehearsal.
"Letting Go," spirited productions' fourth original musical, ran July 29-31 and August 5-7 at the Pascal Center for Performing Arts (Anne Arundel Community College). The striking visual elements of the show--exquisite costumes, grand sets, and highly detailed props--were highlighted by the technical capacities of the Pascal Center.
spirited productions is proud to have worked with such a fine group of actors, musicians, technicians, and theatre artists. We all worked hard to bring this show to life. And, despite the obstacles, we succeeded in creating a memorable, touching, and meaningful piece of theatre. Thanks for spending your summer learning how to "let go." We hope that you will join us again next summer--and for many summers yet to come!

The prostitutes await Susannah's return. Shannon, Bethany, Yvonne, and Jenn (from left to right) did a fine job of bringing these "fallen women" to life.
Originally adapted from "FREED," "Letting Go" grew to become a brand new story. The world of the play focused on how Jesus' ministry challenged the men and women closest to Him. It was a ministry and message that promised freedom--but not without responsibility.
Mary, Judas, and two new characters--Susannah, a "fallen woman," and Marcus, a Roman centurion--took center stage amid the political and religious unrest that surrounded Jesus' ministry. Each struggled to understand and to love Jesus in the best way, but too often the danger of even knowing Him seemed too great.
The ultimate challenge came when Jesus' mission led Him to the cross. There, at the end of all hope, the true test of faith came: to abandon the memory of the man that changed their lives, or to hold on with no certainty of what the future might bring....
