2003 -- LAST RIGHTS: A Success!

Think all musicals are just song and dance?

Think again....

A musical that deals with abortion, euthanasia, AND the death penalty?! "Last Rights" proved that the musical theatre could tackle some tricky issues--with great success!

In front of the clinic door, Maria Gonzales (Carrie) confronts life and death...and the choice in between.

"Last Rights" 2003, a revival of spirited productions' first musical, ran August 1, 2, 8, 9, and 10 in the Humanities Lecture Hall at Anne Arundel Community College. The show, though challenging in its subject matter and message, was met with heartfelt affirmation and thunderous applause!

Congratulations to the stellar cast, crew, and production staff! You made this production just as memorable as the first. Thanks for helping us to spread the message of the goodness of the gift of Life!

Despite the serious subject matter, the cast of "Last Rights" still manages to smile after the final performance.

"LAST RIGHTS" is the story of life, death, and the choices in between. Three characters serve as the voices of the voiceless while one woman must decide for herself the value of a human life.

Jimmy Vendetti is a man with a dark past. The mistakes he has made and the crimes he committed--even murder--earn him a place on Death Row. He pleads for "one last chance" to start again.

J. Milhouse Jackson, an elderly millionaire, sings like a ghostly presence from his bed in the ICU, where his three daughters weigh the difficult choice of "pulling the plug" and ending his life.

Hope Gonzales, a voice from the future, is the unborn daughter of Maria Gonzales, Jimmy's fiancee. She serves as a narrator as her mother bears the terrible choice between a present without peace and a future without hope.

Mike, who played the Reporter, reviews his lines while other members of the cast learn how to make a complex scene change look seamless.
